This big research vessel, the Kiyi, came gliding into harbor yesterday. What a beaut! Minnie & I walked out on the sea wall to get the scoop once it got settled in. Turns out, the Kiyi, traverses the waters conducting studies on fish populations & habitat monitoring.

I’d love to hitch a ride on one of these trips to document & experience the feeling of it all. Science on the high seas

The waters of this massive, very oceanic feeling lake, can be a formidable force though. Shipwrecks are memorialized around town in various murals - all painted in an American primitive style that I really love.
