Vaccinium angustifolium (Lowbush Blueberry) A native berry here in zone 4. It’s prolific. I take only what I need and leave plenty to share with the animals.

All blueberries are nutritious but wild blueberries have additional bioactive compounds. (Bioactive = having an effect on a living organism) They have higher concentrations of minerals and polyphenols (your antioxidants) and are sweeter too!

Have you ever seen a bear eating berries? It’s crazy how delicately they pick them from the bushes and what a big part of their diet they are. If those little berries can power a giant bear I feel pretty confident about how they can impact my own body and health!
