I trimmed up the tomatoes a bit to keep their energy focused on fruiting & to clear up some light and space for the peppers & herbs growing in the understory. The tomatoes, heavy with fruit and growing beyond their cages had begun to heavily lean - without propping them up the limbs were likely to snap eventually.

As support I picked a few choice tree branches from a cleanup pile I have going & propped the fruit laden limbs on them.

I strategically placed three strong branches like this one around the tomatoes then carefully untangled & propped up the limbs.

You may be asking yourselves, shouldn’t she have planned for this? Yup! But you know how life is. Gardening offers plenty of opportunities to pivot & improvise, and can be just as forgiving as challenging.

Tomato season this far north is really more of a late summer/fall harvest. Especially with the late start I got this year because of my travels. It’s going to be a glut of fruit though!
