Just checkin’ in
The weather is all over the place and I have seedlings growing in trays all over the house. They are sitting on radiators and heating pads and getting moved to different windows depending on the light. Seeds just want light and warmth, water and love. No fancy equipment needed, though I’m sure some of it can be helpful if that’s how you want to roll! I use empty egg cartons and heating pads ;)
We are in the weird brown season, after the snow has melted, and we await the intense burst of growth to come. I have designed a landscape for the front and back yards and cannot wait to get going on it! The patio, trees and food garden area I put in five years ago provide a good jumping off point.
Min is just happy to be outside in any season.
A Wooly Bear caterpillar in the yard. So cute! These little fuzzies turn into the Isabella Tiger Moth. These are native moths to much of the US and play an important role in natural pest control. They are also pollinators and do their part to encourage biodiversity. Seeing Wooly Bears and Isabella Tiger Moths in your gardens serves as an indicator of ecosystem health as their life cycles are closely tied to environmental conditions.
